What Is IVF with PGT?

In vitro fertilization (IVF) with preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) is a process where embryos created during IVF are tested for their chromosomes before transfer to the uterus. This allows us to identify the genetic health of each embryo and, if desired, determine its sex (XX for female, XY for male).

Why Choose Gender Selection?

  • Family balancing – choose the gender of your next child to balance your family.
  • Medical reasons – avoid passing on gender-linked genetic disorders (such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy).
  • Informed decision-making – select the healthiest embryos for transfer.

How the Process Works

  1. Ovarian Stimulation – Fertility medications stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple mature eggs.
  2. Egg Retrieval – Eggs are collected in a brief, outpatient procedure.
  3. Fertilization – Eggs are combined with sperm in our IVF lab to create embryos.
  4. Embryo Development – Embryos grow in the lab for 5–6 days until they reach the blastocyst stage.
  5. Embryo Biopsy & PGT – A few cells from each embryo are sent for genetic testing to identify both chromosome health and sex.
  6. Embryo Transfer – One healthy embryo of your desired gender is transferred to the uterus.

Accuracy & Safety

PGT is over 99% accurate for determining embryo sex and chromosomal health. The biopsy does not harm the embryo’s ability to implant when performed by experienced embryologists. We always follow the highest ethical and medical standards.
